Ahead of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025 season, PSIS Semarang has seen major changes, including several key player departures. Two crucial local defenders, Fredyan Wahyu and Wahyu Prasetyo, have transferred to Malut United. They follow in the footsteps of Hari Nur Yulianto, who made the same move last season. Additionally, PSIS Semarang lost Taisei Marukawa, a key foreign player, to Dewa United. PSIS cited foreign player regulations as a reason for Marukawa’s departure. Despite these losses, PSIS has brought in new talent, including Zalnando on loan from Persib Bandung. Additionally, promising young players Aulia Rahman (17) and Rahmat Syawal (18) are expected to make a significant impact. The 29-year-old adds a significant Brazilian influence to Arema FC. Arema FC is now strengthened by five Brazilian players: Dalberto, Lucas Frigeri, Thales Lira, William Marcilio, and Pablo Oliveira. Additionally, Arema FC has a Brazilian coach and assistant coach. On the other hand, Persija Jakarta has offloaded many of their young players. Here is the complete list of clubs that will participate in Liga 1 for the 2024/2025 season. The regular series of BRI Liga 1 2023/2024 concluded on Tuesday (30/04/2024) afternoon WIB. Seven matches took place simultaneously across different stadiums. These included the games between PSM Makassar and RANS Nusantara FC, as well as Madura United vs Arema FC. PSM Makassar won 3-2 against RANS Nusantara FC. Meanwhile, Madura United drew 0-0 with Arema. These results had varied consequences. RANS Nusantara FC was relegated to Liga 2 for the upcoming season. They finished in 16th place in the final standings of BRI Liga 1 2023/2024. RANS will join Bhayangkara FC and Persikabo 1973 in dropping to a lower division. The draw was sufficient for Madura United to earn a spot in the Championship Series. Madura United, also known as Laskar Sape Kerrab, was the final team to secure a Championship Series spot, following Borneo FC, Persib Bandung, and Bali United. PSBS Biak topped Liga 2 in the 2023/2024 season. Semen Padang was in second place, while Malut United FC secured third. PSBS Biak faced Semen Padang in the final, winning with an aggregate score of 6-0. Malut United FC fought in the playoffs against Persiraja Banda Aceh, emerging victorious with a 3-2 aggregate score. Persija Jakarta attacked from the outset. In the 11th minute, Almeida scored with a header that deflected off Buyung Ismu. Barito Putera responded by creating several chances but failed to equalize before halftime. After the break, Barito continued to apply pressure, but it was Persija who extended their lead with an Almeida penalty in the 71st minute.
